And why only about 0.25 MINA?
Is there a 0.5 or 0.22 option?
This issue reminds me of the early days of the internet and the spamming problems the cypherpunks had to deal with.
They could have solved it by using ecash (what Mina Protocol is doing right now) but they went for hashcash to avoid spams, which looks way more efficient and effective to me.
Instead of charging newcomers for wallet creation, can’t we implement a similar method? Adding a computational step to the wallet creation process so that it would be infeasible for spammers to attack the protocol?
Hey thanks for your input it is always interesting to read and it is always apprecaited! I think there is definitely a good permanent solution to be had and the .25 change is only a temporary measure while we find it.
Do you mean like a Captcha type thing?
Yes, something like that. Imho, it’s a better solution to not have scalability issues.
an account opening price seems fair to me, adding to that a reception and sending limit can be interesting to take up the idea of anti whale manipulation + something else maybe. if the creation price can be adjusted on the fly, an equivalent to $10 seems legit.
